Our curriculum is broadly based on six themes found in the early chapters of the book of Genesis, with the fact that God is a God who has and does communicate as a backdrop to the entire curriculum. Each theme is paralleled by what Jesus has done in the new covenant.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is underpinned by our Christian Curriculum in which all reception children discover that Jesus is our Creator. It is based on a theme of 'Beginnings' in which the children are encouraged to discover more about our world, ourselves and our place within it. We comply with the new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) regulations.
All pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 follow, at an appropriate level, as part of a two year cycle, a theme which provides the starting point for one term's work.

We do not follow the National Curriculum at Emmaus School because we are committed to developing our own distinctively Christian Curriculum, based upon biblical principles and led by God. However, we continue to keep abreast of current educational thought, sift and weigh it and are discriminating in its use.
Emmaus School currently employs two part time teachers who are responsible for teaching in the school. Parents also teach or assist with teaching across the school according to their gifts and abilities. Strong parental involvement allows class sizes to be kept small.
Parents also assist in practical areas of school life including repairs, financial matters, administration and publicity.
We believe God has created all persons in his own image. Therefore all persons have inherent value, dignity and worth as endowed by their creator. All children at Emmaus School have unique God-given personalities.
It is the intention of Emmaus Christian Family School to meet the needs of all the children under our care. We believe that children with special needs present an opportunity for service.
Most children will follow a common timetable with differentiation within lessons suitable to their needs. Where this timetable would not be in the best interests of the child then a special timetable will be provided as far as staffing and resources allow.
Our day starts at 08:30 when the children have 15 minutes reading time with their parents and then have bible focus. Bible Focus is a short and fun interactive bible study where the children learn a passage of scripture and engage with questions around what they have learned.
Lessons start at 09:10. Each lesson is approximately 45 minutes long. There is a morning break at 10:40 and lunch is from 12:00-13:00. The school day ends at 14:30.
Visits to the school can be arranged so that parents and children can see the school in operation and feel fully informed before applying for admission.
